Seasons in the Sun

Hello, Dog House! 😁 I was thinking the other day that Autumn is almost knocking on the door... My idea for today's thread was actually Looking for the summer, but I found myself wondering about the seasons in general. And we sure had "fun" 🥴 with that, this year!

So... When do Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter start and end? A simple question with not so simple answers!

In most cultures the year is divided into four seasons.

There are two methods to define the dates of the seasons, the Astronomical definition and the Meteorological one. One uses the dates of the Equinoxes and Solstice and the other one the first day of the months that includes Equinoxes and Solstices.

Some cultures, especially in South Asia, the calendar is divided into six seasons.

Aparently, in Finland and Sweeden they determine when a season starts based on the temperatures! This means that there are different dates depending on regions and their climate! Well that is quite different!!

But back from where I started, this year's seasons weren't the same as they used to be, so far. A certain flow in a certain order. Somewhere where to start from and where to end so it can start again. Each season has its own flavor and brings up a certain attitude. Is it that because we are used to this cyclic phenomena? Is it that because somehow their influence on us brings us to the surface different aspects of ourselves? Who knows?! 😁
