🌳A Walk In The Woods🌲

Trees - what wonderful plants they are, contributing so much to the ecosystem, the atmosphere, the landscape, and our gardens and yards.

And some of them have been around for a very long time!

The Major Oak in Sherwood Forest believed to be between 800-1100 years old. It provides a home and shelter to hundreds of living things; beetles, bats, fungi, squirrels and spiders amongst much more! In Sherwood Forest, there are almost 1,000 other ancient oak trees like the Major Oak, providing homes for the amazing variety of wildlife you can find in the forest.

And some trees can survive and thrive in the most inhospitable of places.

And, if for nothing else, woods and forests make a lovely place to walk, unwind, and get back to nature.
I certainly enjoy my daily walk through the woods near me, especially at this time of year when things are really springing into life.

And those of us lucky enough to have big enough gardens or yards can bring the majesty of trees into our private spaces to enjoy all year round.
Magnolias and flowering cherries bring welcome early colour. And fruit trees like apples, plums, cherries, and pears do, too, as well as a lovely, tasty harvest later in the year.
Other trees have spectacularly coloured leaves in the autumn.

And arboretums are wonderful places to visit, where trees from all over the world are gathered together in one place.

Are you someone who loves to get back to nature, and are you lucky enough to have some lovely woods or forests around you to enjoy?
Do you have any special trees in your garden or yard? Or an arboretum nearby?

Today, let’s share all things arboreal, be they tree facts, gifs, music, images, memes or jokes.
