Armistice Day
Today, the 11th of November, is the day that commemorates all the people who have sacrificed so much in human conflicts down the ages and still are doing so today in far too many parts of the world.
At the eleventh hour on this eleventh day of the eleventh month, the moment that marked the end of the First World War, a two-minute silence is observed to reflect on this.
In the UK and many parts of the Commonwealth, we call it Remembrance Day. In the US, it is Veterans’ Day. But whatever it is called, it is a time to be thankful for the personal freedoms we all enjoy in our own countries, which were often bought by the blood of others.
So, today, let’s spare a moment to remember those who sacrificed and continue to sacrifice much so that others can live their lives in full, in peace and in freedom.
