🍫🍫It’s Dark Chocolate Day🍫🍫

We all love chocolate, probably too much, but what do we know about dark chocolate and its benefits?
Today is Dark Chocolate Day, so let's celebrate and learn about it.

Dark chocolate goes back thousands of years, right back to the natives in Central and South America who used to chop cacao beans, put them in heated water, and make a drink, which was also used for ceremonial purposes.

There are tons of different brands of dark chocolate in the shops nowadays, the choice is yours, and even how bitter you want it. The higher the cocoa content, the better it is for you.

Today, apart from eating it, find out about some of the health benefits of dark chocolate over milk chocolate.

Powerful source of antioxidants

Dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants, such as flavonols and polyphenols, that fight off the dangerous and unhealthy free radicals that are present in the environment and food today.

May help with cholesterol

With the possibility of improving risk factors for heart disease, dark chocolate may protect against high cholesterol as well as possibly reducing insulin resistance.

Protect from sun damage

The antioxidants found in dark chocolate may help to improve blood flow to the skin, prevent skin damage from the sun, and even increase the hydration and density of the skin.

May improve brain function

Not only is dark chocolate possibly good for you in other ways, but it may actually help to improve the function of the brain, helping to maintain cognitive function, particularly in aging and older adults.

Personally, I prefer milk chocolate and I can eat dark if it’s not too bitter.

Dark chocolate is used in many things: sweets, ice cream, biscuits and, of course, cake!

So today, tell us your thoughts on dark chocolate. Love it or hate it, it is all around us.

Please post all things, gifs, music, memes etc. relating to dark chocolate.  And don't forget to eat some !!
