It’s Solstice Time

For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, today is our shortest day and the traditional start of winter. For those down under, it is their longest day, and they are heading for a sunnier Christmas season!

And that is all possible due to our wonderfully tilted world!

I, for one, love having different seasons, although they aren’t always that well-defined. We are currently having a very mild December here in the UK. But we had snow in November, which is very unusual, so there is plenty of time for winter to bite yet!

Down through the millennia, Nature’s calendar was the one that really mattered to people then, and vast amounts of time and human effort were used to make monuments and other devices to record the changing of the year.

They may not have understood the why of it all, but they understood how it impacted their lives.

So, today, whether you are entering winter or summer, let’s share a little of the seasons and the solstice in whatever form you like: pictures, gifs, memes or music.
