It’s Workout Time

Most of us, post-Christmas, have a few pounds of weight we would love to shift, but there are few who enjoy just slogging out down the gym on machines.

It can be fun if there is a group of you, as exercise classes are too, and the social interaction means it is harder to skip the workout and so you tend to stay on track better than going it alone.

But there are plenty of fun ways to work out.

Swimming is a good form of exercise: an all-over body, cardiovascular workout with low impact on the joints.

Gardening is a satisfying way to get a little light exercise, and if you do heavy digging, raking, or barrowing, you can work up quite a sweat!

Cycling is a great way to workout too and a fun activity with friends or family.

And a nice run or walk with a dog is a lovely way to get some exercise.

A trampoline is fun!

And horseriding is a great way to exercise. And no, it isn’t just a case of sitting there and letting the horse do the work. You will discover muscles you never knew you had!!

Yoga and Pilates are very effective and low-impact forms of exercise.

And at the end of the day, most of us can do a little exercise in the form of walking, whether that is power walking or something a little more gentle. Every step will help your health, even if weight loss isn’t your goal.

And whatever your chosen form of exercise, it won’t just benefit your physical health. Your brain will also benefit, helping your mental health, emotional stability and cognitive abilities.

So, do you exercise?
If so, what is your preferred form of exercise?

Let’s share a few exercise tips etc today as well as our usual fun and friendly chat.
