š„§Letās Eat Some Piesš„§
Pies, well love them or hate them they have been around for thousands of years, the idea of a pie remains the same, pastry filled with something savoury or sweet and served on a plate or dish that is has been baked in. There are different sorts of pastry for pies, shortcrust, puff, rough puff, and all have delicious fillings.
The winter months to me are pie months, not that I am a lover of them, but a nice chicken and leek or chicken and mushroom pie can be wonderful. The choice of fillings is endless though, from beef, chicken, pork vegetables to even things like sausages. Some pies can also be eaten cold, with salad if there are any leftovers!! Pork pies and salad with some mustard for the pie are delicious.
Pies are very filling and not classed as healthy food, but are nice on the odd occasion, Home made are even better, although to be honest, nowadays ,you can buy some very nice shop bought pies, not cheaply but probably cheaper than you could make one for.
The sweet pies appeal to most, cherry pie, blackberry pie, pumpkin pie, blueberry pie and my favourite Lemon Meringue Pie. Not forgetting the traditional mince pies at Christmas time. All can be served with cream or ice cream.
So what's your favourite pie, let us know any yummy fillings and post anything pie related together with our usual friendly chit chat and fun
