🍕🍕National Cheese Pizza Day🍕🍕
I don’t know anybody who doesn't like a good pizza, and there are endless toppings you can get for them. But today, we go back to basics and enjoy just a bog-standard cheese pizza, which, if you buy a decent one, can be very nice. So forget the chillies, pineapple, and everything else people have on it and enjoy the humble cheese pizza.
The standard cheese pizza is regarded by the Italians as food for the poor, who can't afford meat. The ingredients are cheap: flour, yeast and water to make a dough, and the topping made from local milk. Even food that is cheap to make can be delicious if done properly.
Cheap to make, delicious to eat and fills you up.
They reckon there are over 70,000 pizzerias across the States and the industry is worth over 40 billion dollars every year just in the States. This famous dish is popular all over the world, but to me, you can't beat a pizza in Italy. That was the best one I have ever had.
Homemade ones are lovely, and so are some shop-bought ones, provided they have a decent amount of topping on them, which the cheap ones don't; it tends to be just scraping.
To celebrate today, and who needs an excuse to eat a pizza , hot or cold, you could go out for a pizza, cheap and cheerful. Or invite some friends round for a pizza and wine evening or try making one yourself. You won't regret it.
For those who want to try to make their own pizza in honor of the day, it’s really not that hard! Making the dough at home can be pretty simple, with flour, warm water, and yeast (and possibly a bit of sugar). But, to make it even easier, it’s possible to buy pre-made refrigerated pizza crust which can be used to make the dough.
Then, simply top with some red sauce, doctor up with herbs and spices, and then add a pile of delicious shredded mozzarella cheese on top. For a special touch, brush some olive oil along the edges of the crust and sprinkle some garlic salt on too. Bake and then enjoy!
Post all things pizza-related, pics gifs and music and enjoy the day and the pizza!
