Street Art

Street art is a very old form of art. It can be traced right back to medieval times in Britain when the subjects were typically commentary on politics or morality for a population who largely could not read or write. These artists were known as screevers and their art, screeving.

Mainly using semi-permanent chalk-based paint, street artists create stunning 3-D artworks using a wall or pavement as their canvas.

Pavement art doesn't use a flat "canvas" and is designed to be viewed from a particular point to get the right perspective.

Viewed from another direction, it can seem quite bizarre!

It takes a lot of skill to get the perspective right when they are working so close up to the image.

And often from the wrong direction as well!!

But the finished article is worth the effort and many can be interactive artworks!

Wall art or murals incorporate a similar style to pavement art, and some graffiti is classed as art as well.

Let's start the week off by sharing all manner of wall or pavement art - there are some incredible examples out there - as well as our normal dose of fun and friendship!!
