50s And 60s Music
The 50s and 60s were such a turning point in terms of many things in society and not least of all music!
With their big bands and fare of jazz and swing, the dance halls gradually gave way to artists such as Bill Haley and His Comets, Buddy Holly, Elvis, and Bob Dylan, and then there was the rise of supergroups like the Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
So many styles and genres were swirling around together, creating a heady mix, and many artists of that period are still an inspiration to musicians today. There really was something for everyone back then!
The music was real, with no computerised input - vocals were true, and instruments were played live and unadulterated!
And with the rolling out of transistor radios and jukeboxes, the latest and hottest popular music became more widely accessible. It was available in homes, down the pubs, and even out and about!
Today, let’s recapture a little of the spirit of those two decades by sharing our favourite tracks and artists of the period!
