⚡️⛈️ Stormy Weather ⛈️⚡️
I must say I do enjoy watching a good thunderstorm - I always have. But, unfortunately, they aren’t usually that welcome because my pets can get upset by the noise and flashes.
But storms can bring other problems than just thunder and lightning. You can get high winds, tornadoes, torrential rain and all the problems that a combination of those things can bring.
And, of course, they can all leave death and destruction in their wake on both land and sea!
But no one can deny that they are an awe-inspiring display of Nature’s power!
And the source of this devastating power can stretch a long way up into the sky. Most extreme weather phenomena occur in the troposphere, the lowest layer of the Earth’s atmosphere, which forms 75% of the total atmosphere.
Near the equator, the upper edge of the troposphere (the tropopause) is up to 12 miles above the Earth’s surface. At mid-latitudes, it is up to 6.2 miles. But near the poles, it can be as low as 4.3 miles.
And the biggest storms can really pack a punch.
Stormchasers will risk life and limb to follow something like this!
Do you get bad storms where you live?
And do you enjoy watching the less destructive ones pass by?
Today, let’s share the majesty and power of all things stormy as well as our normal friendly fun and chat!
