🍫It’s International Chocolate Day🍫

Welcome to International Chocolate Day.
I don't know anybody that doesn't like chocolate, and with some people, it is an obsession.
Chocolate makes us happy, and some reach for it when we feel fed up as it gives us a lift. It is also supposed to give you energy.

Today was created to celebrate and enjoy anything to do with chocolate, so let's go for it. Some indulge every day, and this is not a day for diabetics !! Chocolate itself is harmless once in a while and certainly deserves its special day.

Chocolate plants have been around ever since, but it was about 4000 years ago that the people of Mexico turned cocoa beans into a drink which was used in cultural rituals and for medicinal purposes. The Aztecs and Mayans got involved years later, and cocoa beans were cultivated and used as currency for trading. The Aztecs believed that the god of wisdom bestowed their newly discovered liquid chocolate on them. It was a very different recipe to what we know now and was very bitter as, of course, there was no sugar to be added. It wasn't a sweet treat till the 16th Century when it got to Europe and to the UK and the rest they say is history.

There are all sorts of chocolate around nowadays, plain dark chocolate with different degrees of bitterness, milk chocolate and white chocolate, and all have endless fillings or coatings. You have chocolate drinks as well, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, chocolate cake, chocolate biscuits, chocolate ice cream, and even chocolate-coloured paint and clothes.

Well, the only way to celebrate today is to go and treat yourself to a bar or box of chocolates or even better get somebody else to treat you, and sit and just enjoy the pleasure of eating them. They aren't to be eaten quickly.
Please remember though don't give chocolate to your dog however pleading he looks, it could kill him.

Let's spend today having some chocolate fun with pics, music, gifs and our usual friendly chit chat and fun
