Life On The Ocean Wave

Ahoy, ye landlubbers, the 19th of September has been designated International Talk Like A Pirate Day!

There are many famous pirates from fact and fiction: Henry Morgan, Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Kidd, Captain Hook, Blackbeard, Long John Silver, etc. And today, we are encouraged to use their distinctive language.

The real-life pirates were around in the great age of sailing ships. Shipwrecks were common, either by storms or cannonballs, and those who sailed in them risked scurvy and other dangers while trying to be pirates or evade pirates.
Life was hard, but the rewards were great if you could safely make it from one port to another with a hold full of treasure.

And sailing ships are beautiful to behold, with only the flap of canvas in the wind to take you where you want to go.

So, splice the mainbrace and weigh anchor, and let’s have some fun today with all things piratical and nautical, too!
