Well, I have never met anybody that doesn't like chocolate. What is there not to love about it? Today is National Chocolate Day, so we are going to celebrate it as only we can, by talking and eating chocolate.
Chocolate didn't find it's way to the Western World until the Spanish heard of it from the Mayan people. It is now one of the most desired treats of all classes.
The cocoa press was invented in 1829 and this presented us with cocoa powder, cocoa butter and solid chocolate. It created a whole new type of chocolate and changed the way of desserts and sweets forever.
In 1847, the first chocolate bar was invented, and 2 years later, Cadbury's came up with a box of chocolates and the rest, as we say, is history.
The first solid chocolate bar put into production was made by J. S. Fry & Sons of Bristol, England, in 1847. Cadbury began producing one in 1849. Released in 1866, a filled chocolate bar, Fry's Chocolate Cream, was the first mass-produced chocolate bar.
We buy chocolates for all occasions: Valentine’s Day, Mother's Day, Easter, Christmas, and let's face it, we don't need an excuse to eat chocolate on any day of the year!
We can buy bars of chocolate in any size you want, plain or milk chocolate, and some have fillings, and some not.
Chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, hot chocolate drink. chocolate pudding and chocolate sauce. The world is your oyster!
