October is National Sausage Month, and the tasty sausage deserves recognition. They are a good, cheapish, food, and really come into their own in the winter months. In Casseroles and Toad in the Hole or just cooked with chips and egg .

This month highlights all sorts of sausages. And when we think of sausages we tend to think of the ordinary flavoured ones we eat, but they includes sausages such as bratwurst and chorizos.  

Sausages are popular at parties and, of course, barbies. The everyday sausage can be fried, grilled, or ovened, making them an easy part of a meal to cook. They can be eaten at any time of the day and left to cool, they are nice with a salad, in a sandwich with mustard, or to top a pizza. There are loads of different sausages on the market, and some places have their own variety, and there are some lovely ones around.
We have Lincolnshire Sausages, which are pork with sage, and a good one is lovely. There are also veggie options as well if you want to go down that road. 

The National Sausage Month began in 1994 and the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council began this month to make people aware of the variety and pleasure of eating sausages. 

There are loads of different flavours to choose from. Choices in the UK include plain pork or beef, even chicken, Cumberland, pork and apple, pork and chorizo, and black pudding sausages, to name a few.
A decent sausage is worth eating, unlike the cheap ones that are full of fat and tasteless. You could even try making your own! Host a sausage party, get your friends to cook some sausages and bring them around, and see which flavour you prefer.

How you cook them is a personal choice; we grill ours. The best place to buy them is a local butcher who makes his own, but not everybody has one of those.
