We Will Remember Them
Today is Remembrance Day or Veterans’ Day as it is known in America when we all remember those who have given their lives or been maimed in the many human conflicts down the ages.
It was declared a day of remembrance following the end of the First World War.
Many wreaths are laid in cemeteries and at memorials, and on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, a minute’s silence is observed.
And of course, many animals also gave their lives assisting in human wars - horses, donkeys, mules, camels, dogs, cats, and birds.
Sadly, far too many are still involved in our conflicts.
Today, let’s take some time to reflect and pay respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that the rest of us have the freedoms we enjoy today.
And also to remember those currently caught up in terrible conflicts around the world.
