We Will Remember Them
Today is Armistice Day, also called Remembrance Day in Commonwealth countries such as the UK and Canada, and Veterans’ Day in the US.
But whatever its name, it is a day to remember all the people of all nations and the many animals that have served or lost their lives in all human conflicts down through the ages.
The poppy is a traditional symbol for this day: red for people and purple for animals.
Along with all currently serving human members of armed forces around the world, many animals still perform vital roles alongside them.
In some countries, today is a national holiday, and many observe a two minutes silence at 11 o’clock.
Today is a more serious subject than we usually cover, but it’s an important one. There will be a new topic tomorrow.
So, let’s spare a moment to remember all those from every country—two-legged, four-legged, furred or feathered—who sacrificed and continue to sacrifice so much in all human conflicts all around the world.
