🍲🍝Leftover Food🍲🍝

What happens to any leftover food in your house? We tend to cook too much really and often eat it because it is there, but you don't have to, nor do you have to bin it.

There are tons of wastage of food every year, all because of sell-by dates and people buying more than they need. I know it is difficult to buy the right amount for a family or guests and better to have too much than not enough.

Most things can be frozen, so that is one option with leftovers. Meat could be made into a pie or a Spicy Ragout or even a curry, or just packed in slices with a bit of cling film in between and frozen. Leftover casseroles are easily frozen in containers, as is Spag Bol or Chilli, and to be honest, they improve with keeping. Any veg surplus to requirements can also be frozen. There is plenty of information on the internet on how to freeze leftovers.

All nice and neat and tidy and don’t forget to label them well

The other option is to put them in your fridge for use in a few days, but this tends to get forgotten, and the food gets pushed further and further to the back until you clean out the fridge and think oh, I had forgotten this, and it’s gone mouldy.

The last option is to give it to the dog, which in this house is the first option, or bin it. There is far too much food wastage nowadays cos people can't be bothered. There are plenty of cookbooks or recipes online for leftover food and what to do with it. By doing this, you will save yourself money on the weekly shop, which we all need to do nowadays, and have some nice meals that just need to be heated up if you’re in a hurry for tea.

So what happens to yours? Ours get frozen or given to the dogs/cats depending.
Let us know and any good recipes for leftovers would be great.

Let's have some fun with leftovers, as well as our usual friendly chit-chat and general fun!
