National Day Of Rock ‘n’ Roll
Today is National Day of Rock 'n' Roll, and it's time to put on your dancing shoes to dance the day away!
Rock 'n' roll began in the late 1930s with music containing combinations of jazz, rhythm and blues, gospel, and country music. By the 1940s, instruments like the saxophone and piano were added to the sound, but it wasn't until the 1950s that rock 'n' roll hit the mainstream music scene.
Christina Alexander created the National Day of Rock ‘n’ Roll in 2020 to celebrate the popular musical genre.
Chuck Berry is arguably considered the first pioneer of modern rock ‘n’ roll.
Elvis Presley is considered the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, although he didn't write any of the 600+ songs he recorded.
So let’s celebrate today by playing some great rock ‘n’ roll from all artists and eras and putting on those dancing shoes too!
Tell us who your favourite artists are and your all-time greatest songs.
