🐎National I Love Horses Day🐎

Today is I love horses day, and I don't think there are many people that don't. Such beautiful creatures and a lot of character. What else do you know that comes to a standstill cos somebody is kneeling down in the garden and wouldn't go past til they stood up?

Dartmoor Ponies

Humans began domesticating these magnificent creatures about 6000 years ago and they have since played a big part in the culture and lives of people. There are still horses roaming wild, and left to their own devices and it is great to see them wild and free.

Horses come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, breeds and colours, and obviously, we all have our preferences. Some people like to ride, others have them as pets, and others, just like feeding them apples and polos!

Many gave their lives for humans in the wars, and we owe those a huge debt. They have toiled for farmers from dawn to dusk and been harnessed to carriages for the upper class, but nowadays life is not quite so hard for them. Just a field with some grass to eat, some fuss, and generally being well looked after, and understood is all they want.

They make great companions for humans as they are gentle but very powerful, and should always be treated with respect.

Today was started to give these creatures the love and appreciation they deserve
