🎵Welcome to the 1960’s🎵

I suppose the 1960’s is best remembered for its music, which was the best ever and a lot is still played all over the world and loved by young and old. So many good groups and singers in those days, some of who are still touring.

There was more to the 1960s than the music though, it was a wonderful decade, so different to anything before and since. It was all new, and our parents hated it.

The 1960s, more often called the Sixties, was a time of great change in popular culture and the political situation around the world. Rather than strictly meaning 1960-1969, this cultural decade more closely followed the time from the Kennedy assassination in 1963 to the Watergate scandal in 1974.

This was my time of growing up and they say if you can remember the 1960s, you weren’t really there. It was a magical time. Everything was new: new fashions, new music, and a new way of life. Women had more freedom and boy, did we enjoy it.

The fashions changed considerably from what they were before and the teenagers had fun and could live, money to spend and the clothes shops like Biba and those in Carnaby St were willing to take it.

The cars looked like cars, not like we have now and there were so many new inventions for the home to make life easier.
